Dog and Puppy Trainer Isabelle Papé of Ringwood Dogs is passionate about training dogs to be well behaved members of the family and teaching owners to better communicate with their canine companions so that behavioural problems do not get out of control.
You may be a new owner with a new dog and feeling rather overwhelmed or you may be an experienced owner with a dog who needs a refresher training session.
Isabelle uses training techniques based on common sense, repetition and consistency, which are rewarding for the dog and owner, helping to create a bond between both.
There is never a “Cure All” method for training dogs as each dog and owner have different needs and expectations. However, once your dog knows the basics and you incorporate these into your daily routine, life with your dog will become much more enjoyable and you’ll feel better in control!
Private Dog Training Consultations
Ringwood Dogs offers training in the comfort of your own home. Flexibility in scheduling an appointment, one to one attention and a personalised training programme to suit your needs, makes this option appealing to busy families and working individuals. Ringwood Dogs believes teaching your dog the following “8 Essential Commands” will help create a well behaved member of the family:
- Focus (reflex to name)
- Sit (sit down when asked)
- Down (lie down when asked)
- Stay (stay until released)
- Recall (come back when off leash)
- Leave It (back away from object)
- Drop It (drop object)
- Loose Leash Walking (walking nicely on the leash)
Or simply concentrate on a few specific training areas.
A home visit lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours and the personalised training programme will be worked through together. All sessions include detailed homework sheets so that you the owner can carry on the training once Isabelle has left.
Telephone Consultations
Some problems can be managed via a telephone consultation and therefore Ringwood Dogs offer telephone and online consultations to clients for problems that may not need a face to face consultation due to being out of travel areas covered, owner being unable to travel or indeed having a problem that can be discussed on the telephone. Fees for a telephone consultation are £30.00 for up to one hour. During your consultation, we shall speak on the phone to get a full outline of what is happening at home and the problems you are experiencing with your dog. We shall discuss different training techniques to get your dog back on track and there will be lots of opportunities to ask questions and take notes during the discussion so that you can put training in place after the consultation. Problems that can benefit from a telephone conversation are:
- Advice on setting up the home before puppy arrives.
- Routines and habits.
- Toileting problems.
- Mouthing (play biting).
- Bad doggie manners.
- Recall problems – although this usually needs to be following by a one to one training session.
- Loose Leash Walking – although this usually needs to be followed by a one to one training session.

Isabelle gained her qualifications with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT) and is a fully Accredited Trainer and Full Member of the IMDT and follows their Code of Ethics which means no force or punishment is used. She is also a Full Member of the International Society of Animal Professionals (ISAP).
